Technology Advisory Panel (TAP)

TAP was the GeoConnections Program Advisory Network committee responsible for providing coordinated advice and policy recommendations on the strategic technology direction for the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI). In this role, TAP addressed the interoperability challenges by developing a target vision, an architecture and an implementation plan for the CGDI. This work was required to enable the effective discovery, access and use of geospatial information.

Some of TAP's key activities included:

  • Developing a target vision and development strategy for the CGDI;
  • Endorsing, producing, approving and maintaining implementation specifications for CGDI;
  • Providing input to the former GeoInnovations Program by recommending direction and priorities as the program evolved;
  • Recommending the mechanisms, capabilities and procedures that would enable or enhance other former GeoConnections program activities;
  • Developing solutions for standards, implementation specifications, and technology, for the production, management and dissemination of geospatial information; and
  • Making recommendations to GeoConnections Management Board on CGDI standards.
